1.What is IO Lumen Doc
IO Lumen Doc is an AI-powered document hub for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Instead of juggling separate apps, you get seven editors in one place — a PDF editor, spreadsheets, documents, an infinite canvas, slides, notes, and workflows — with AI woven through all of them, plus secure sharing and web publishing.
The app is free to download and use. AI and a few add-on features use credits; you get a free monthly allowance and can buy more or subscribe if you need a larger one. IO Lumen Doc is local-first: your files live on your device, and content is only sent to the cloud for the features that need it (see Security & privacy).
2.Getting started
2.1 Download & install
Head to the download page — it detects your operating system and recommends the right build. IO Lumen Doc is available for:
- macOS — Apple Silicon (M-series) and Intel. Open the
.dmgand drag the app to Applications. - Windows — x64 and ARM64. Run the
.exeinstaller. - Linux —
.AppImage(make it executable and run it) or.deb.
Tip: You can install and explore the editors without an account. You only need to sign in to use AI features, sync credits, share, or publish to the web.
2.2 Create your account
On first launch you'll be invited to create a free account, or sign in if you already have one. You can sign up with an email and password (we'll email a 6-digit code to verify it) or continue with Google. New accounts include a free monthly allowance of AI credits.
2.3 Your first document
From the Home screen, open an existing file or create something new — a PDF, spreadsheet, document, canvas, slide deck, or note. Everything you create is saved automatically and appears in your Library for quick access later.
3.The hub & library
The Home screen is your hub. From here you can:
- Start anything — pick an editor or a template to begin.
- Find anything — the unified Library searches across every file type and keeps a list of recent documents. Open a file once and it's a click away next time.
- Pick up shared work — the Shared section shows documents you've shared and documents others have shared with you.
- Use AI anywhere — the hub assistant can act across editors (create a document, transform a sheet, generate a deck, and more).
Your work auto-saves as you go, and the app keeps recovery copies so an unexpected shutdown won't lose your progress.
4.AI & credits
AI is available in every editor — look for the AI or assistant panel. Depending on the surface you can generate, rewrite, summarize, extract, transform data, design layouts, build decks, transcribe audio, and more.
4.1 How credits work
- AI and a few add-on features (such as image generation and audio transcription) consume credits.
- Every account gets a free monthly allowance that refreshes on a regular cycle. Free credits don't roll over.
- Need more? Buy a credit pack or subscribe for a larger monthly allowance — see pricing.
- Your balance and usage are visible in Settings. Credits have no cash value and are non-transferable.
4.2 Attachments & vision
Many AI panels let you attach files or images as context — for example, attach a photo and ask the assistant to describe or work with it, or attach a document from your Library as a reference.
4.3 Reviewing AI output
Always review AI results before relying on them. AI can be inaccurate or incomplete, and its output is not professional (legal, medical, or financial) advice. You're in control — nothing is changed without your action.
5.PDF editor
Open any PDF and edit it like it was always editable.
- Edit real text — change wording while fonts, spacing, and layout stay intact.
- Forms & signatures — fill form fields and add signatures.
- Secure redaction — permanently remove sensitive text and its underlying content, not just cover it.
- OCR — make scanned PDFs searchable and editable.
- Convert — export a PDF to Word or Excel, and combine, split, reorder, or rotate pages.
- Annotate — highlight, comment, add shapes and links.
Learn more on the PDF editor page.
6.Spreadsheets
A fast, familiar grid with formulas, charts, and AI built in.
- Formulas & functions — the calculations you expect, with live recalculation.
- Charts & formatting — visualize data and style cells, with conditional highlighting.
- Import & export — bring in
.xlsxand.csv; large imports are handled carefully so you never silently lose rows. - AI for data — clean, transform, summarize, and explain your data in place.
- Widgets — turn a sheet into a small interactive app.
Learn more on the Spreadsheets page.
7.Documents
A clean writing surface with structure and AI.
- Rich formatting — headings, lists, tables, shapes, banners, and dividers.
- Templates — start from professional layouts.
- Accurate pagination — page-split guides show how your document breaks across pages.
- Write with AI — draft, rewrite, summarize, and adjust tone.
Learn more on the Documents page.
8.Canvas
An infinite, free-form design board for everything visual.
- Design freely — shapes, text, images, connectors, and grid-snap on an infinite canvas.
- AI design — generate diagrams, charts, palettes, and vector graphics; auto-layout keeps elements tidy and overlap-free.
- Marketing & posters — presets for social posts, posters, cards, and campaign boards.
- Brand kit & effects — reuse brand colors and fonts; apply text effects, photo filters, and animations.
- Export — PNG, SVG, and PDF.
Learn more on the Canvas page.
9.Slides
Build and present polished decks.
- Themes & layouts — consistent, professional slides with multi-column and card layouts.

- Transitions & animations — add motion, with a presenter view and speaker notes.
- Export — reliable PowerPoint (
.pptx), PDF, and image export.
Learn more on the Slides page.
10.Notes
A OneNote-style space to capture and organize ideas.
- Notebooks → sections → pages — organize naturally, with full-text search.
- Rich notes — tables, callouts, checklists, highlights, and a slash (
/) command menu. - Wiki-links & to-dos — connect pages with
[[links]]and round up your tasks. - Audio & transcription — record voice notes and transcribe them to text.
- Encrypted at rest — sensitive notes and recordings can be encrypted using your operating system's secure keychain.
Learn more on the Notes page.
11.Workflows & Agent
Automate repetitive work and let an assistant act on your behalf.
- Workflows — build data transformations and reports that run at scale; save them and re-run on demand or on a trigger.
- Personal Agent — a conversational assistant that can read your library, transform tables, and create documents, sheets, decks, and reports, with an action timeline so you can see exactly what it did.
Learn more on the Workflows page.
12.Sharing & collaboration
Use the Share button in any editor to collaborate or publish.
- Share & collaborate — invite people to a document. Changes are merged safely, and conflicting edits are preserved rather than lost.
- Publish to web — create a view-only web link that mirrors the desktop view exactly, at view.lumenqube.com. Choose public or restricted access, optionally allow downloads, and revoke the link anytime.
- You stay in control — shared content is encrypted at rest on our servers, and you decide who has access.
13.Account & billing
- Profile & settings — manage your name, email, and preferences in Settings.
- Credits & plans — view your balance and usage, buy credit packs, or manage a subscription. Subscriptions renew automatically and can be cancelled anytime; access continues to the end of the period.
- Password — reset it from the sign-in screen via Forgot password? (we email a 6-digit code).
- Billing questions or refunds — contact support@lumenqube.com. See the refund terms.
14.Security & privacy
IO Lumen Doc is built local-first. Your documents stay on your device by default and aren't uploaded in the background. Content is transmitted only for the cloud features you choose to use — AI, sharing, and web publishing — and only the content that feature needs.
- Data in transit is encrypted with TLS; shared and published documents are encrypted at rest on our servers.
- Sensitive local data such as notes and audio can be encrypted at rest using your operating system's secure keychain.
- We don't use your content to train AI models.
Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
15.Updating the app
IO Lumen Doc checks for updates and will let you download and install the latest version. Most updates are optional, but some releases may be marked as required for security or compatibility — in that case you'll be prompted to update before continuing. You can always get the newest build from the download page.
16.Keyboard shortcuts
Common shortcuts across editors (on macOS use ⌘; on Windows/Linux use Ctrl):
| Action | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Save | ⌘ / Ctrl + S |
| Undo | ⌘ / Ctrl + Z |
| Redo | ⌘ / Ctrl + Shift + Z |
| Find | ⌘ / Ctrl + F |
| Help & report a bug | ⌘ / Ctrl + K |
Each editor also has its own tools and an AI panel; explore the toolbar and right-click menus for surface-specific actions.
17.Troubleshooting
The app won't open on macOS
If macOS blocks the app on first launch, right-click the app in Applications and choose Open, then confirm. This only needs to be done once.
AI features are unavailable
AI requires a signed-in account and available credits. Check that you're signed in (Settings) and that your credit balance isn't exhausted. If you're out, your free allowance refreshes monthly, or you can buy more.
I didn't get my verification or reset email
Check your spam folder and confirm you used the right address. You can request a new code from the sign-in screen. Still stuck? Email support@lumenqube.com.
A large spreadsheet import looks incomplete
Very large files may be capped based on your device's memory to keep the app responsive; when that happens the app tells you exactly what was left out. Restoring a native .iodata file is never truncated.
Something went wrong
Press ⌘ / Ctrl + K (or the Help button) to file a bug report — relevant diagnostic logs are attached automatically so we can investigate quickly.
18.Getting help
