Frequently asked questions

Is IO Lumen Doc free?

Yes. The app is free to download and use across every editor. AI and a few add-on features use credits — you get a free allowance of credits every month, and you can buy more or subscribe if you need a larger allowance. See the pricing page for details.

Do my documents leave my device?

By default, no. IO Lumen Doc is local-first: the files you open and edit live on your device and aren't uploaded in the background. Content is transmitted only when you use a cloud feature — AI, sharing, or publishing to the web — and only the content needed for that feature. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what each feature sends and where.

What are credits, and do they expire?

Credits are how AI and certain add-on features are metered. Free monthly credits refresh on a regular cycle and don't roll over. Purchased credits remain available subject to our Terms of Service. Credits have no cash value and are non-transferable.

Which platforms are supported?

macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows, and Linux. The download page detects your system and recommends the right build.

How do updates work?

The app checks for updates and will let you download and install the latest version. Some releases may be marked required for security or compatibility, in which case you'll be prompted to update before continuing.

How do I reset my password?

On the sign-in screen, choose Forgot password? We'll email a 6-digit code to your account address so you can set a new password. If you don't receive it, check spam or contact support@lumenqube.com.

How do I report a bug?

The fastest way is from inside the app: press ⌘K or use the Help button to file a report — relevant diagnostic logs are attached automatically so we can investigate. You can also email support@lumenqube.com.

How do I cancel a subscription or request a refund?

You can cancel anytime; access continues to the end of your current billing period. For refunds or a charge you don't recognize, email support@lumenqube.com and we'll review it in good faith. See Cancellation & refunds.

Is my data encrypted?

Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Shared and published documents are encrypted at rest on our servers. On your device, sensitive local data such as notes and audio can be encrypted at rest using your operating system's secure keychain. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Do you use my content to train AI models?

No. We use our AI providers' API offerings, and content submitted through them is not used to train their models. See how AI features handle your content.

How do I delete my account and data?

Email privacy@lumenqube.com from your account address and we'll delete or de-identify your personal information, except records we must keep to meet legal obligations. Files stored only on your device stay under your control.

I found a security issue — who do I tell?

Please email security@lumenqube.com with the details. We appreciate responsible disclosure and will work with you to investigate and resolve it.
